The short version. We want anyone to be able to use this site and get a quote from us, regardless of how they browse the web. We've built in the standard accessibility features and we're working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. If something on this site doesn't work for you, tell us and we'll fix it — and in the meantime we'll happily take care of you by phone, text, or email.
Our commitment
Higgins Lawn and Surface is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology. We treat accessibility as part of doing the job right, not as an afterthought.
Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We consider this website partially conformant: most of it meets that standard, and we're actively working on the parts that don't.
What we've built in
Specific measures already in place on this site:
- Keyboard navigation. Every link, button, and form field can be reached and operated with the Tab and Enter keys alone — no mouse required. This includes the mobile menu and the step-by-step quote form.
- Visible focus indicators. Whatever you're focused on gets a clear, high contrast green outline, so you never lose your place while tabbing.
- Semantic structure. The site uses proper HTML landmarks, headings in logical order, and real buttons and form elements rather than clickable decorations, so screen readers can navigate and announce the page correctly.
- Labeled forms. Every input has a visible, properly associated label. Placeholder text is used as a hint, never as the only label.
- Descriptive labels on icons. Icon-only controls, like the social media links and the menu button, carry accessible names so they're announced meaningfully instead of as "link."
- Decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they don't add noise, and meaningful images carry alternative text.
- Reduced motion support. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects it: scroll animations, transitions, and moving decorative elements are switched off automatically.
- Color contrast. Text colors were chosen against their backgrounds to stay readable, and color is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Responsive, zoomable layout. The page reflows down to small screens and can be zoomed in the browser without content being cut off or trapped in horizontal scrolling.
- Skip link. Keyboard users can jump straight past the header to the main content.
- Error handling. Form errors are announced to assistive technology rather than only shown visually.
Known limitations
We'd rather be honest about the gaps than claim perfection. As of the date at the top of this page, we know about the following:
- Decorative illustrations. The site includes hand-built decorative graphics (grass, tools, textures). These are intentionally hidden from screen readers because they carry no information, but their fine detail may be hard to make out at high magnification.
- The multi-step quote form. It works with a keyboard and a screen reader, but the step-by-step flow is more complex than a plain form. If it gives you any trouble, the simpler Send a Message form at the bottom of the page collects the same thing, and calling or texting works just as well.
- Third-party content. Our social media and review links lead to sites we don't control and can't fix. We have no influence over their accessibility.
- Ongoing testing. This site has not yet been through a formal third-party accessibility audit. Our testing so far has been keyboard navigation, screen reader spot checks, and browser zoom.
Always available: talk to a person
Nothing on this website is the only way to reach us. If any part of this site is a barrier for you, you can get exactly the same service — a free quote, scheduling, questions answered — by calling, texting, or emailing us directly. We'll walk through the whole thing with you, take your details over the phone, and nothing about your quote or your pricing changes.

Tell us about a problem
If you run into something on this site that doesn't work with your assistive technology, we genuinely want to hear about it. It helps us fix it for the next person.
When you contact us, it helps if you can include:
- The page or section where you hit the problem.
- What you were trying to do.
- What browser, device, and assistive technology you're using, if you know.
We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 5 business days and to fix confirmed issues as quickly as we reasonably can. If something can't be fixed quickly, we'll tell you that honestly and offer another way to get what you need.
How this site was built
This website was designed and built with the assistance of AI, and its accessibility features were built in during development rather than bolted on afterward. Our full disclosure about AI use is in our Privacy Policy. Accessibility is reviewed by a person, and any report you send us is read and acted on by a person.
Ongoing work
Accessibility isn't a one-time task. As we update this website — adding real photos of completed work, customer reviews, and the soft washing division when it launches — we check new content against the same standard. This statement gets updated as things change.
