What a Higgins mow includes
Every visit is the same complete job. We don't quote a low price by cutting the grass and leaving the edges, the walkways and the clippings for you to deal with.
Edging
Clean, straight edges along driveways, sidewalks and curbs. This is the single biggest difference between a cut lawn and a finished one.
Line trimming
Around fence posts, mailboxes, foundations, trees, AC units and anything else the mower deck can't reach.
Blow-off and cleanup
Driveway, walkways, patio and porch blown clean before we leave. Clippings go back on the lawn where they feed it, not onto your concrete.
Seasonal cleanup
Leaf removal in fall, storm-debris and winter-kill cleanup in spring. Quoted separately from routine mowing.

Cleveland lawns are in the transition zone
Southeast Tennessee sits in the transition zone, the band of the country where it gets too hot for northern grasses and a bit too cold for southern ones. It's the hardest region in America to grow turf, and it's why a mowing routine copied off the internet usually looks wrong here.
What that means for your yard in practice:
- Bermuda and zoysia are common on sunny Bradley County lots. They love our summer heat, want a shorter cut, and grow fastest in July and August, exactly when a weekly schedule matters most.
- Tall fescue shows up on shadier, tree-covered properties and older established neighborhoods. It wants a noticeably taller cut, especially through summer, and scalping it in August is how people kill it.
- Many yards here are a mix of both, which is why we look at the lawn before quoting rather than assuming.
Our humid summers also mean real fungal pressure, so we keep blades sharp and avoid mowing saturated turf where we can. A torn, wet cut is an open door for disease.
The short of it: we set the cut height to your grass and the time of year, not to whatever's fastest. Grass cut at the right height shades out weeds, holds moisture through a Tennessee August, and needs less help from you.
How often should you have it mowed?
Weekly
The right call from roughly April through September, when warm-season grass is growing hard. Keeps you inside the one-third rule, so no clumps and no stress on the lawn.
Bi-weekly
Works well in spring and fall shoulder seasons, and year-round for slower-growing or shadier lots. Our most popular option overall.
Monthly
For low-growth properties, winter maintenance, or lots you just want kept tidy rather than manicured.
One time
Overgrown yard, a rental turnover, a property going on the market, or company coming this weekend. No contract, no commitment.

Before your first visit, please mark or tell us about anything hidden: irrigation heads, invisible pet fence, low-voltage lighting wire, septic lids, buried cable. Common questions
How much does lawn mowing cost in Cleveland, TN?
It depends on lot size, how much trimming and edging the property needs, slope, and how often you want service. A small in-town yard and a two-acre lot out toward Charleston are very different jobs. We give firm per-visit pricing after seeing the property, and the estimate is free with no obligation.
Do I need to be home when you come?
No. Most of our customers aren't. We just need reliable access to the yard, so an unlocked gate or a code if there's a fence.
What happens when it rains?
We push the visit. Mowing saturated ground rips turf, ruts the yard and spreads disease. When weather moves your day we let you know rather than leaving you guessing, and we get you back on schedule the same week where we can.
Do you bag the clippings?
Normally no, and that's deliberate. Returned clippings feed the lawn and reduce how much fertilizer it needs. If the grass got tall between visits or you'd simply rather they were collected, we can bag for an added charge.
Is there a contract?
No. Recurring service continues because you're happy with it. Submitting the quote form doesn't commit you to anything either. It's a request, not a booking.
My yard is badly overgrown. Will you still take it?
Usually, yes. Heavy overgrowth may need an initial cleanup cut priced separately from regular service, and occasionally a second pass a few days later. Tell us what we're walking into and we'll quote it honestly.
